Pneumatically-powered grinder to precisely machine a small angled groove into the sidewall of a die cavity in a stamping die to prevent slugs from pulling onto the die surface eliminating downtime.
The DTC Products Slug Retention Machine (Rev 3) uses a pneumatically-powered grinder to precisely machine a small angled groove into the sidewall of the die cavity in a stamping die. This groove from the Slug Retention Machine (Rev 3) prevents slugs from pulling onto the die surface where they can damage the metal strip, the stamped part or the stamping die itself, thus eliminating downtime. A micrometer coupled to the drive of the machine’s slide enables precise movement of the machine’s carriage to enable the depth of the slug retention groove to be precisely controlled.
